EIFAST

In development
  • Payload150 kg
  • Efficiency8× a quadcopter
  • Endurance~83 min
  • Size3.8 × 4.0 m
  • Weight220 kg
  • PowerElectric, direct drive

Hovers like a helicopter, cruises on its wing.

EIFAST: a ring wing around two counter-rotating lift propellers, with pushers at the wing roots

EIQUAD

Prototype flying
  • Payload120 kg
  • Efficiency2.5× a quadcopter
  • Endurance~40 min
  • Size4.4 × 4.0 m
  • Weight195 kg
  • PowerElectric, off-the-shelf motors

Faster and cheaper to build, on catalog motors.

EIQUAD: a ring wing carried by four tilted propellers

BUZCO

Rotor tested
  • Payload313 kg
  • Endurance5 min at full payload
  • Size6 m rotor
  • Weight28 kg
  • PowerJet fuel, tip turbines

A flying crane that rides to the job on a small truck.

  • Lifts 11 times its own weight; DARPA asks for 4.
  • No gearbox, tail rotor or swashplate: one fixed-pitch rotor.
  • No pitch links to rig: rotor upkeep is just balancing the blades.
  • Designed to cost about $175,000.
  • Two people launch it where the load is.

For wildfire crews, disaster relief, construction, energy, offshore, farms and remote sites.

BUZCO: Blade-tip Uncrewed Zero-swashplate Cargo One-rotor. In Ukrainian, бузько is the stork. Legend says it was a man who let a sack of snakes escape, and gathers them still.

BUZCO from its CAD, flying and folded at one scale: three fixed-pitch blades with tip turbines above the mast, gimbal, fuel tank and payload frame; folded, the blades hang beside the mast

Technology

Why it is different

BuiltThe 1 m EIFAST airframe: a ring wing around the body
  • Big props, few moving parts: direct-drive electric
  • No swashplate: fixed-pitch blades
  • Three 1 m prototypes built; one delivered to NASA Glenn
